My wife is a children's nurse and has recently been asked to take charge on the ward more frequently. A responsibility that most mortals would dread and probably attempt to avoid at any cost. She was given a piece of advice about appearing calm and in control while all about you are going crazy. The swan is a graceful animal from above the surface, but below the water, she's kicking her legs furiously to get to her destination. The trick is, to kick your legs, get your tasks completed, delegate to others, prioritise and get to where you need to be, but while maintaining the serenity and grace of the swan to all those who see you from above water. My wife replied that she's not quite a swan, more of a duck. A mallard perhaps.
